Welcome to Corvey!
The former Benedictine abbey of Corvey is considered to be one of the most important monastic establishments in medieval Germany and declared to UNESCO World Heritage site in June 2014. After nearly 1.000 years of monastic life, today’s visitors are received into a baroque castle complex under ducal ownership.
UNESCO World Heritage site
The Carolingian Westwork and Civitas Corvey: these building and archaeological area erected between 822 and 885 A.D., are the latest addition to the family of World Heritage sites in Germany. Declared a World Heritage site in June 2014, these buildings, located along the Weser River on the outskirts of the city of Höxter, are the most important architectural examples of the Carolingian era.
Music is inextricably linked with Corvey – the Corvey Music Weeks, which are characterised by classical music and take place annually from May to June in the "Kaisersaal" and the abbey church, date back to 1954. Festival concerts, Jazz Days and the Christmas concert are other highlights of the concert season.
